Women & Children First is a feminist bookshop run by intersectional trans-inclusive feminists, with more than 20,000 books in stock. The store has been in existence for more than 40 years. Although it was sold to two of its staffers in 2014, they have carried on the mission, and seen interest in feminism increase in recent years, particularly from young people. The bookshop focuses on trans literature as part of their feminist outlook. It is a supportive platform for queer community in Illinois.

Unabridged Books is a neighbourhood bookstore that describes itself as Chicago’s premier go-to-bookstore for LGBTQ literature. The website showcases a prominent Queer Book Club and in the local queer community they are an institution, having focused on LGBTQ+ literature since the 1980s.
